Music Downloads (Page 2 of 2): BGM Selections
There are three BGM soundtracks for the Ah! My Goddess TV series, both of which have around thirty tracks on them, each. Here is a small sampling of my favorite tracks from each CD. I tried to choose a variety of music samples that would represent the wide range of styles that the Ah! My Goddess music encompasses, but I do have to admit that I'm biased toward the "pretty" flute and violin music, so you will find more of that here than any other type.
Selections from the First Season Soundtracks (OST 1 and 2)
OST 01: Oosawagi [Uproar]
One of the weirder tracks, and that's why I chose it. One part game-show soundtrack, one part 50's sitcom homage, one part mambo.
OST 01: Belldandy
Belldandy's lovely theme music, performed with a piano and flute.
OST 01: Aisuru Hito no Tame ni [For the Sake of my Beloved]
A Celtic-inspired track that conveys Belldandy's grace and determination when confronted with a crisis.
OST 01: Kasukana Munesawagi [Faint Heartache]
Music for when somebody says to you, "I've got a bad feeling about this..."
OST 01: Ikkyuushin Nishu Higentei ~Sanctus~
[1st Class Goddess, 2nd Category, Unlimited ~Sanctus~]
When Belldandy performs a miracle, she does it with a heavenly chorus and a drunken band of electronica artists backing her up.
OST 02: Sidecar ni Notte [Riding in a Sidecar]
LOVE THIS TRACK. A graceful blend of guitar, violin, and flute that perfectly captures the joy and sense of movement that Belldandy must experience while riding in Keiichi's sidecar.
OST 02: Marller
This strange but addictive little piece of music fits Marller so much that it's scary.
OST 02: Skuld
And yet another piece that captures a character in a few musical notes - this time, it's Skuld's mischevious theme.
OST 02: Wakare [Parting]
Another beautiful piece of Celtic-inspired music. This music plays when Urd remembers scenes from her childhood, such as her last moments with her mother Hild, meeting Belldandy for the first time, and giving birth to World of Elegance.
OST 02: Kyuukyoku Hakai Program [Ultimate Destruction Program]
Fenrir is the most bad-arse mythical monster to attack Japan since Godzilla. And at least Fenrir gets his own awe-inspiring backup chorus and creepy organ chords.
OST 02: Shinobi Yoru An'un [A Dark Cloud Approaches]
Probably my favorite of the "sad" music on both soundtracks.
OST 02: Last Battle ~ Libera me ~
The track title lies. This music is actually used in the last three episodes as Our Heroes face off against the Lord of Terror. Again, more of this amazing backup chorus adding an epic feel to the piece.
OST 02: Ashita ni Mukatte [Turning Toward Tomorrow]
Saving the best for last! This one gets my vote for the prettiest piece of music out of both soundtracks, and it's a perfect way to end a session of Goddess music samples.
Selections from the Second Season Soundtrack (OST 3)
OST 03: Peorth
A nice, somewhat stuffy, but very lovely violin track for Peorth. (Nice, somewhat stuffy, but lovely - appropriate, no?)
OST 03: Anata ni Sachi Are [I Give You Happiness]
An upbeat, mischevious-sounding track. Remember that time that Belldandy got drunk and...?
OST 03: Kaze ga Deau Basho [The Place Where the Winds Meet]
What a lovely piece of music, at moments melancholic and then uplifting.
OST 03: Troubador
Troubador is awesome and hilarious. This music is awesome and hilarious. That's all that I have to say about that.
OST 03: Skuld no Hatsukoi [Skuld's First Love]
Like a romantic-sounding music box, there is something slightly artificial and mechanical about this piece, but that suits Skuld just fine. There's also a lovely sense of uncertainty and hesitation during the first part of this piece, which perfectly evokes the feelings of a first love.
OST 03: Daimakaichou Kourin [Advent of the Daimakachou]
Hild strikes terror into the hearts of men.
OST 03: Subete no Omoi wo Mune ni [All Feelings into my Heart]
The obligatory "preparing for battle" piece. This music conveys Belldandy's courage in the face of adversity, as well as her sorrow during times of strife.
OST 03: Sorezore no Tsubasa [Everyone Has Wings]
A sweet, slow melody for a happy ending.
OST 03: Yume no Ato ni [After the Dream]
Another lovely piece for a happy ending, this time with a slightly more bittersweet feel to it.
